To be honest: I am really not a good photographer. I am just trying to carry a camera with me whenever possible and take photos of sites and places around my way. Each photo was taken by me - if not mentioned otherwise.

In the recent couple of years I was able to build a quite impressive database of images. It was quite often helpful for me that I categorized and labelled most pictures at least with minimum information about date and place. It is quite surprising how often you need a picture of a certain places or with a certain motive or mood - especially if you are sometimes dealing with web design or layout issues. Therefore I started to build up a web database with most of my pictures in mid 2003. I did not want to just implement an existing solution. Therefore I coded my picture gallery from scratch in order to use it as a form of testing environment for things around web design, XML, databases und search engine optimisation.

Again I have to admit that I am not a talented photographer. Nevertheless there are some of the over 2,500 pictures I would consider as quite good.

As the entire picture gallery is based on a database it is possible to offer some special pages with special subsets of the complete data. For example you can view the latest additions to the gallery. It is also possible to see the most viewed pictures or a randomly created gallery. Also I would like to refer to my personal favourites.
